Well this is odd. I'm talking about a manga. I like to keep up with the new Shounen Jump series, and the newest series is Hachi by Nishi Yoshiyuki. Is this series worth reading? Well in a nutshell probably. It's difficult judging a series by its first chapter as a lot of elements change in those first few chapters. But I actually really enjoyed Hachi while reading it and I'll be keeping up with the series as long as it continues to be entertaining.
What's the story? Hachi is a young middle school student of a short stature. What makes him special is that he has an incredible sense of smell. His dream for the future is to be a hero. But Hachi isn't popular and he doesn't have very many friends because he's short and a dork. I like Hachi, he's got a lot of standard shounen protagonist traits such as bravery and resolve but he also acts like early Naruto. He does stupid stunts to get attention and he does have flaws such as being selfish and aloof. But that is balanced by his kind heart and genuinely good nature. Hachi is a pretty good character that avoids some of the bland shounen hero tropes.
Here's something surprising. I like the female lead. So many new series have some of the most bland or dumb female leads. Hachi does the strangest thing of actually making her interesting. When she was younger she was a tomboy and even looked like a guy. Hachi and her would often hang out and play as boys do. But then she left with her mother for the summer and when she returned she looked more like a girl. Because of this Hachi didn't even recognize her and slowly she became the school idol. Hachi became jealous and frustrated at her new popularity and felt he lost his best friend. That's interesting and a relatable issue! She also still wants to be Hachi's friend and often stands up for him, but Hachi constantly tries to push her away because of his feelings. The two have a good dynamic and I hope it's continued in the coming chapters.
My biggest problem with the series is the art. Nishi certainly has a style, but I'm not a fan. It's not bad but I just can't seem to like it.
The story revolves around Hachi learning about the truth behind his incredible sense of smell and the rash of serial murders going on around Tokyo. There's a real air of mystery and the series doesn't shy away from gore. I'm hooked on what's going to happen and I recommend giving the first chapter a read.

Adventures of Daggerdale, Session 12
Pajlada's not Home
How do I start these again? It's been so long! But playing again really made me remember how much I love playing RPG's. We had a fun time even though Pajlada couldn't be with us. Probably best...it will make sense in a second.
So we started the session with a dream for Vistra. It seemed like it would be a normal night, but then suddenly she has a very vivid dream. All her friends are dead around her and there's fire everywhere. Ourania appears with the dagger she gave Vistra. She says that when Vistra is in grave danger, she must thrust the dagger into her friend. She then gives the dagger to Vistra and forces her to thru
MisAdventures of Daggerdale
So my internet broke (COMCAST!) and we couldn't do D&D this week. It really sucks and I feel bad for denying my friends the chance to punch drow in the ass. But we did get through some stuff. So here's a rundown of what happened.
You'll recall the party found a map of spots the drow are going to be attacking. They decide to search some of these spots that they haven't been to before. The first is a mansion housing a dwarf diplomat that manages trading between the dwarf lands and Tethyamarside. The next location is a dwarf forge that makes weapons for Tethyamarside. Finally, a church of Moradine (the dwarf god) that doesn't seem to have a

The Church of War
So we finally return after two weeks without D&D (hooray!) and...we were missing someone. Kae's player never showed up and we wasted about 2 hours waiting. Oh well it happens and anther player (Darri) volunteered to play as Kae for the time being. The session started off with the players very battered and beaten from the last encounter. So they were quick to take a rest and regain some HP. Vistra takes a nap and starts dreaming of a giant spider that attacks her.
They travel deeper into the citadel and find a larder stocked with food. Vistra takes this opportunity to have a sample of the beer that's been stored here. S
A Reverie of Comics! Green Lantern Series #23
When is Brightest Day?
I love the Green Lantern books. I absolutely love them to death. Green Lantern was the book that got me into comics, specifically Blackest Night which is one of the first comics I read. So I have a long history with the Corp and I can't imagine not reading about their exploits. Geoff Johns is one of my favorite writers, so what's this new team's take on the Ring Slingers so far? Meh.
Now don't get me wrong I'm still enjoying the books, but each one has problems (Red Lanterns is not included and I'm not talking about Larfleeze yet). I want to talk about these problems to get some of my grievances off my chest and work
